Reels FAQs: Find Out The Answers To Your Frequently Asked Questions
Both Facebook Reels and Instagram Reels have followed in TikTok’s footsteps by taking the world by storm with short videos.
And businesses have been tapping into that left and right getting views by the thousands, if not millions.
And that kind of brand exposure leads to what? Sales.
That’s why these videos on Reels have been some of our most popular videos recently!
We get tons of comments every day asking questions about how to use Reels, different technicalities, and overall how to grow.
So today, we’re answering your questions in this Reels FAQs video.
We’re going to be answering some of the most frequently asked questions we get about Reels. Let’s get started!
Reels FAQs: Your Frequently Asked Questions Get Answered
1. How to post a cover photo on a Facebook Reel?
Currently, at the time that we’re writing this…
…you cannot add a cover photo or thumbnail when you publish Facebook Reels on your page like you can on an Instagram Reel.
We don’t know why Facebook hasn’t rolled out that feature yet…
…but we would imagine with the amount of you asking for it, we’ll probably see that option roll out sooner rather than later.
For now, though, you should know that you’re not missing something obvious, there’s not a secret way to do it, the option just doesn’t exist yet.
2. How to edit a Facebook Reel after it’s been posted?
Specifically, you guys have asked about editing the description as well as the music choice.
On Instagram, you can edit a Reel by tapping the 3 dots in the upper right corner, and then tapping Edit.
You can edit the cover photo, description, who’s tagged, location, any paid partnerships, and advanced settings.
But, you cannot change the song choice or edit the video itself.
Facebook Reels, on the other hand, are a different story.
At the time, we’re filming this, you cannot edit anything on a Facebook Reel after it’s been posted.
You’re probably seeing a pattern here.
But hopefully, in the near future, we’ll be able to hit the 3 dots on a Facebook Reel and have the same editing functions that we do on Instagram Reels.
Currently, when you tap those 3 dots on a Facebook Reel, it only gives you the options to:
- copy a link to the Reel to share it,
- report if something isn’t working, or
- delete it.
But we’ll keep checking and you do the same.
In the meantime, try to audit your Facebook Reels well in advance so there aren’t any mistakes you want to fix after it’s been posted.
3. Can you monetize Reels from a personal profile and not just a business page?
Next on our list of Reels FAQs is monetization.
So a lot of you upload Reels on your personal Facebook profiles and get more views that way than on your Facebook business page…
…and you’re wondering if you can still monetize those Reels.
According to this article from Facebook, you can!
Facebook launched Professional Mode for Profiles.
They said, “We want creators to reach their full potential on Facebook and that means giving you ways to earn money.
Until now, these tools were only available on Pages.
We know that many creators — especially those who are just starting out — are on profiles, so we’re introducing a professional mode for profiles in the US.
Notably, one of the first monetization options available with professional mode for profiles will be the Reels Play bonus program…
…which allows eligible creators to earn bonuses based on the views of their qualifying reels.
To start with, the program is invite only.”
So keep in mind that while you have the option to turn on professional mode for your profile…
…you still have to be invited by Facebook to the Reels Play bonus program.
So if you don’t get that invite, you still may not be able to monetize your Reels.

4. Can you record, post, and watch Reels from your desktop?
While you cannot record and post Reels from your desktop, people can definitely watch Reels from their desktop.
Oftentimes, we see a lot of people will comment that they don’t see the option to post a Reel from their Facebook page.
And it’s often because they’re looking at Facebook on their desktop.
When using your Facebook business page, you won’t see the option to post a Reel on your desktop…
…you have to do it on your mobile phone.
But again as far as viewers go, they’ll be able to see your Reel no matter if they’re on their phone or on a desktop.

5. How to get more views on Reels?
Views are probably the most important metric people measure when gauging the success of their Reels.
While Reels still can absolutely provide explosive reach and engagement for your business…
…we think some business owners are struggling to see that for themselves.
But thankfully, you’re in luck because we made a whole post on how to get more views specifically on Facebook Reels!
So be sure to check it out next instead of rehashing all of those golden secrets here.
6. Why can’t I boost my Reel?
If you are trying to boost your Reels but don’t see the option to select the Reel you want…
…or if you’re getting an error from Ads Manager that’s preventing you from boosting the Reel, our best guess is that it’s a copyright issue.
If you’ve got a song selected on the Reel from Instagram or Facebook’s library, it probably won’t let you boost it.
And remember you can’t go back and edit the song choice.
So you’ll want to try to create new Reels using original audios to be safe, or trending audios that aren’t songs and aren’t copyrighted.
And don’t forget, we have Reels ads complete beginners guide post, so if you need more help here, check that out.
7. What’s the size for Reels?
Last on our list of Reels FAQs is all about the size.
The ratio for both Instagram and Facebook Reels is 1080 pixels x 1920 pixels.
But there are some key things to keep in mind when planning your Reel.
The first is that your:
- username,
- description,
- location,
- audio name, and
- engagement buttons
…will all occupy the bottom and bottom right corner of your video.
So don’t put text in those areas; it’ll look sloppy and be hard to read.
Furthermore, we would avoid putting text or any other important visuals close to any of the edges or corners of your video so that they don’t get cut off.
And lastly, you can technically have a horizontal video within the 1080 by 1920 ratio, but we would not recommend it.
A vertical Reel will occupy the most real estate on a user’s screen; don’t waste that by using a video format that isn’t ideal for this media type.
So stick with a vertical video and be conscious of where you’re adding your text and graphics etc.
And that wraps up the Reels FAQs we’re answering today.
