Marketing Overview
Marketing is one of the most important aspects of a company. It is responsible for increasing popularity and sales, building communities and growing the customer base. It is the action that attracts an audience to a product or service through high-quality messaging.
Marketing involves not only the use of advertisements but also requires various other skills like sales, management and analytics.
In essence, Marketing involves the skills to sell a product and gain customer attraction.
Marketing has two diverse yet similar categories. There is Physical Marketing and Digital Marketing. Both differ in the way they function. Yet both work towards achieving the common goal.
Physical Marketing
It involves physical interaction and communication. It is the ability to grasp the customer’s attention. You would have seen various people standing in front of a Kiosque or a stand trying to showcase their products. They are using physical marketing.
The best way to have a successful physical marketing campaign is to remember 5 things.
- Customers usually have an attention span of 5–10 seconds. So try to keep it short and crisp.
- Highlight the importance of your product in your consumer’s life and how it positively affects their lifestyle.
- Mention the features, advantages and benefits of having that product or using the service provided by the company.
- Be bold and brave while selling your product. If you are not confident while pitching your product, then your customers won’t believe in what you are selling and won’t buy it too.
- Pitch your product to a large crowd. There is always a chance that you might get more users.
Digital Marketing
Digital Marketing or online marketing is the promotion of brands/products/services using the internet and other forms of digital communication.
Social Media Handles
- It refers to the strategy in which we use social media handles like Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn, promotional emails, advertisements, and spam messages to gain user attraction, build communities and gain customer insights.
- Post trending content and maintain consistency. Post regularly. It takes some time to build an audience, but it takes a lot of time to build a strong community.
- Be yourself. No content is right or wrong. You can’t know if a new type of post will be successful. So be brave and post content you like.
- Maintain a monthly planner to decide beforehand which social media handle you will focus on that particular month. Try to make all the content for that specific month early on. Maintaining a monthly planner will help you with consistency and efficiency.
Analytics
1. Analytics is also one of the most important aspects of a successful digital marketing campaign.
2. We use analytics to see how a particular content behaves, for example, to check the performance of an Instagram post, a tweet or a LinkedIn event.
3. We use it to understand how our customers interact with our content. To know when is the best time to post to gain maximum interactions, what type of post performs the best, or which content has the most effect on a user.
4. Understanding analytics and reviewing and altering the marketing strategy is necessary.
SEO & SEM
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) and SEM (Search Engine Marketing) are necessary to achieve maximum search engine visibility.
Organic marketing strategies focus on generating traffic to your site/content over time. While Inorganic or paid marketing strategies use paid methods to target, reach, engage and convert an audience.
SEO (Search Engine Optimisation)
- It focuses on increasing organic reach and raising the organic SERP (Search Engine Research Page) ranking.
- Using targeted keywords in our content and blog posts.
- Using keywords in the alt text, headings, and title tags.
SEM (Search Engine Marketing)
- It focuses on Inorganic marketing strategies and paid results.
- Some tactics are Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising and sponsored posts.
- You can’t have an effective SEM strategy without SEO.
- For example, PPC Google ads are ineffective without keyword research, and sponsored posts, require good content production techniques plus social media expertise to be successful.
