3 lessons from the Jesi Scholarship Digital Marketing course
In the hallowed halls of biomedical research, I deciphered genetic codes and conducted intricate tests, and in my free time I scroll through the web like any curious mind would.
As the world recovered from the pandemic and transitioned into the remote work era, the conversation of a four-day workweek gained momentum, and the allure of technology cast its enchanting spell on me.
In January 2023, I ventured into the realm of software engineering with dreams of coding symphonies. However, a different melody played in my heart, urging me to explore beyond the binary.
So in May, I enrolled in a Digital Ads class by Aleph Group. Learning about Digital Ads and Social media marketing became my inspiration. This led me to a pivotal decision — applying for the Jesi Young and Safe Scholarship in Digital Marketing. (The Scholarship is a Node Eight initiative funded by Fondation Botnar).
The journey unfolded like a digital voyage. Concepts such as Principles of Marketing and Copy Writing that once seemed elusive became stepping stones, and the maze of algorithms transformed into a canvas where creativity danced with strategy.
It has been Two months into the Jesi Young and Safe Scholarship and here are three things I have learned from the program so far.
1. Data-Driven Decision Making:
Data-driven decision-making (DDDM) is defined as using facts, metrics, and data to guide strategic business decisions that align with your goals, objectives, and initiatives.
This encourages me to be curious and to think critically. It has empowered me to make better decisions with data, every day.
In a recent case study with Norvklin Enterprise, a challenge in driving traffic to their e-commerce website was met with a deep dive into data. I conducted Quantitative and Qualitative Research to understand the target audience and why they did not visit the website or make purchases. My findings led to recommendations for fine-tuned strategies that would result in increased website visits and revenue generation.
2. Effective Writing and Communication:
At its most basic level, communication is the process of exchanging information between people.
Effective communication occurs when the people imparting the information and the people receiving it are confident they share the same understanding. Good communication builds and maintains relationships.
Crafting press releases and media pitches to position the Ho Healthy Living and Physical Fitness Program as a catalyst for positive change allowed me to engage and build a relationship with my audience.
3. Building a Portfolio:
A portfolio is more than a collection of work; it’s a testament to practical application. Real-world projects showcased in my portfolio on Notion boosted my confidence.
These tangible outcomes are the symphony of success, validating the transformative journey with Jesi. I’m excited about the endless possibilities as I navigate the digital frontier, armed with insights and strategies.
Here’s to the future of digital marketing, where every click tells a story and every strategy paints a new chapter in the evolving saga of communication and advertisement.
