You know the internet is huge. You also know that people are making an insane amount of money in the internet. You have social media, SEO, and content creation, to list a few. These are all game changers. So getting savvy with this online scene gets you closer to making money outside of your day job.

Captivate your audience on social media with content. Grow your following. Earn their trust. Then you can recommend affiliate products and or services. You’ll earn a commission when one of them buys.

Or you can offer them your own product or service. There’s nothing stopping you. But, it’s often easier getting started with affiliate products and services instead. I recommend starting with affiliate marketing while you work on your own product. Then you can switch. Of course, make sure your product or services aligns with the content you have been producing. Otherwise, you will lose your audience. You can always grow back up, though. But, that’s not the point.

As you navigate the digital landscape, mind SEO. This stands for search engine optimization. This is the art that gets traffic to your content via search engines such as Google. Keywords, backlinks, shareable content are great for SEO. The more people like, share, and comment on your content, the higher it ranks on search engines. This means that people are likely to view first and often.

So work on your content. Take courses or classes on the subject. Learn how to write to connect with your audience. This is the best way for people to notice your work.

Use storytelling in your writing. People will always remember a good story when the facts fade away. They also remember the person telling the story. the more they remember the story, the more they will share it. This means search engines are putting your content in front of more people.

And regardless how you feel about sales, this is the only way to multiply your income. Or rather the only way you can make more of it. It’s about producing more sales than putting in more hours. If I can make the same amount of money in one deal than in 8 hours, I will work on that.

You need confidence and influence, though. And remember this, you can have confidence and not influence. You cannot have influence and when you don’t have confidence. So work on them both.

So own the space your are in This starts with your body and what it’s communicating. Dress well, stand up straight, smile, and look people in the eye.

Then know your product in and out. This is not for you to spat facts and features to your customer, though. Rather use the information to have a conversation with the customer instead. Ask questions to learn and understand what the customer needs.

Guide your customer toward a solution. Present options but don’t inundate them. I always like the top 3 options approach. This doesn’t overwhelm the customer. Instead it provides the brain the information it needs. Provide recommendations based on the information the customer provided you.

Then help the customer make a decision. That’s when you close the deal. Until then, you are still talking. Likely the customer tuned you out by then. You have to ask for the deal. You have to ask the customer to take action. Buy, sign, or make an appointment.

Remember you don’t make money until you close the deal. You don’t have an exchange — money for a service — until you close the deal. You are selfish and inconsiderate when you talk to you customer but don’t have for the deal. You wasted their time instead.

Copywriting

Words are your ammunition. Make them count. You also must make them memorable.

Have you ever stopped and though: “I need this?” That’s the power of copywriting. It’s the art of using words to make people act. At the end of the day, that’s what we want, right? Otherwise, you waste your audience’s time.

In writing, you have to be precise. Forget about your fancy education for a minute or two. Convey a clear, concise, and compelling message instead.

Consider and understand your audience. Learn their desires, fears, and dreams. Write in a way that resonates with them. How you may ask? Write in a way that evokes emotions based on their desires, fears, and dreams. This is no different than talking to a friend. They share every detail about something that is going on in their life. Your audience communicates in a very similar way. So listen and ask questions as needed.

Avoid ambiguity, though. Write in a clear manner. Otherwise, you confuse your reader. Or you paint a different picture in their mind. This leads to disappointment and it erodes their trust in you. So remove all the guesswork in your writing. Your reader will appreciate it and buy from you.
