Yeah, that party’s pretty much over. Google’s AI-generated overviews are pushing organic traffic straight off the cliff.
I’ve been writing on the internet since 2003. I remember when I could get on the first page of Google by writing about almost any topic (even competitive ones).
Anyway, the reality is that blog posts won’t magically bring many free customers anymore. You need to build your own audience.
The absolute best way to do that is still good old-fashioned email marketing.
People still read their email.
Unlike blog posts, emails aren’t a one-shot deal — you get multiple chances to reach and connect with customers.
How 99% of Shopify Stores Get Email Wrong
Most Shopify stores treat email like it’s a never-ending Black Friday:
“Here’s 20% off!”
“Wait, another flash sale!”
“Guess what? 20% off again!”
After a short while, your emails start looking like the flyers you throw out before you even flip through them. Nobody likes spam, even if it’s well-intentioned spam.
You should treat email marketing like you used to treat blog posts.
Your emails should teach your audience something valuable.
Explain why your product uses the best materials, how to use it better, or help solve a problem your customers might not even know they have yet.
AI Makes Good Email Way Easier
I already mentioned that AI is destroying SEO and organic search.
But there is a good side to AI too.
Writing smart emails and planning educational content used to be a huge headache. Who has the time?
But now AI can help you organize and write incredible email content in a fraction of the time it used to take. It can also help you reformat old blog posts into interesting email content.
