Over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to attend several iterations of Digital Dealer, which is one of the automotive industry’s most dynamic events. I always walk away from this event with new and powerful insights—whether it’s from listening to some of the wonderful speakers, visiting with longtime friends in the business, or checking out some of the latest and greatest in advertising technology, Digital Dealer never fails to inspire me to think differently about the digital landscape.
This year was no exception. After having had some time to reflect on what I experienced in Las Vegas this year, I wanted to share some of my most impactful takeaways from the event.
- In comparison with its broadly attended cousin, NADA, Digital Dealer is a much more intimate conference. We were fortunate enough to have some powerful, lengthy conversations with key influencers in our industry, as well as in-depth strategy sessions with our partners. This type of dialogue was only possible due to the design of the show, and it’s a reason why we continue to attend year after year—to have that face-to-face interaction.
- Our partners miss the quality of consulting they received from their vendors in the pre-COVID environment. Although technological advances continue to be impressive, the human element is what’s missing for many. Many vendors have become dependent on distance meetings, and have removed the individualized service components, forcing their clients to call 800 numbers or file service tickets with anonymous email addresses. This has left many feeling disconnected from their service providers, feeling more like a number than a name.
- As such, dealers need a true partner who is invested in their success at a personal level. It’s imperative to create uniquely designed strategies, customized for your business, your market, and your goals.
