These are the exact tools I use with my clients and students to help them go from a handful of clients to consistently hitting 5K, 10K, and even 30K months.

Finding Your North Star

One of the biggest mistakes agency owners make is not having a clear goal.

Think of your goal as your North Star—a guiding light that keeps you on track.

Without it, you risk moving in all sorts of directions, taking on clients and projects that aren’t aligned with your mission.

Your North Star should be specific and tangible.

It’s not enough to say, “I want to be successful” or “I want to be rich.”

You need a clear, realistic target, like 10K a month.

This number is achievable for most people who put in the effort and follow the steps.

Setting Clear and Specific Goals

Once you’ve identified your North Star, outline everything about your ideal business and life.

Consider questions like:

  • Where do you want to live?
  • What services do you want to offer?
  • What kind of clients do you want to work with?
  • How many clients do you want?
  • What are your price points?
  • What does your daily routine look like?

Be as specific as possible.

This exercise isn’t about showing anyone else; it’s about creating a clear, personal vision to guide your actions.

Reverse Engineering Your Goals

Let’s say your goal is to make 10K a month.

That might mean securing five clients who each pay 2K.

From here, break down what you need to do to reach those five clients.

What kind of outreach will you do?

What content will you create?

What follow-up processes will you implement?

This step-by-step planning is crucial for turning your vision into reality.

Evaluating Opportunities

Once you have your goal, it’s time to focus your energy on opportunities that align with it.

Using our 10K per month example, that translates to 120K per year.

If you divide that by 2,000 work hours a year, your time is worth $60 per hour.

Assigning Value to Opportunities

When opportunities come your way, evaluate them based on:

  • Money: Does it pay well?
  • Experience: Will it provide valuable experience or training?
  • Connections: Will it help build beneficial relationships?
  • Fun: Is it enjoyable work?

If an opportunity pays well but doesn’t offer much else, it might still be worth it.

Conversely, an opportunity that’s low-paying but offers excellent experience and connections could also be valuable.

Understanding Opportunity Cost

Every time you say yes to something, you’re saying no to something else.

For example, having lunch with a friend at noon means saying no to spending that time on your business, with family, or on other personal activities.

Be selective and strategic.

Make sure each yes aligns with your North Star.

Avoiding the Sunk Cost Fallacy

Don’t fall into the trap of sticking with something just because you’ve already invested time or money into it.

Each day, evaluate if what you’re doing is still valuable.

If it isn’t, let it go and focus on what moves you closer to your goals.

Change

If you’re stuck at a few clients and not hitting consistent high months, something has to change.

The actions that got you here won’t get you to the next level.

Implement new strategies and be open to changing your approach.

Consistent Action for Consistent Results

Success comes from understanding and consistently applying the actions that lead to desired results.

The difference between someone struggling and someone thriving is knowing what works and doing it consistently.

Remember, nothing changes if nothing changes.

Evaluate every opportunity, focus on your North Star, and take consistent actions.

With this approach, you’ll see your agency grow and hit those consistent, predictable profits.
