From Newsroom to Boardroom: 35 Years of Storytelling, Strategy, and Southern Grit
Don Davis | Partner, DSB&P
There’s a through line in every career move I’ve made — whether it was behind the anchor desk or behind the scenes of a million-dollar rebrand: storytelling with strategy.
For 35 years, I’ve worked in communications — from broadcast journalism to public relations, digital media, political consulting, and full-scale brand strategy. Today, I lead as Partner and President of Davis South Barnette & Patrick (DSB&P), a full-service advertising and public relations agency headquartered in Mobile, Alabama.
I work with our team to build and manage campaigns for clients like Amazon, Miller Lite, the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, OWA Parks & Resort and multiple political candidates/issues. We help elected officials win office, help health systems earn trust, and help tourism destinations drive bookings. Whether you’re launching a candidate, a brand, or a bold idea — we shape the story and execute the strategy.
Before DSB&P, I spent two decades as a news anchor, executive producer, and weather anchor — primarily at WALA FOX10 in Mobile. That newsroom discipline shaped how I still work today: be clear, be credible, and get it right the first time.
Some folks call it PR. Some call it branding. I just call it getting the story right — and making sure the right people hear it.
